MISSIONS

We believe that serving others is an important part of a God-centered way of living.

At CLC we look for ways to connect into other's lives.  Here are some of the current programs that people at CLC can be involved with:

(1) Comfort Dog Ministry.  *see page for Obadiah!

(2) Meet Me at the Freezer  *described below

(3) Prayer and Card Ministry  meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays at church 6:00pm.  We pray for people, for CLC ministries, and send out cards. It's a great, simple, powerful ministry to come and be a part of... You are invited.

(4) Children and Youth Ministries here at CLC   Sunday School, VBS, kids are the next-generation of disciples and an important part of our church!

(5)  Care and Encouragement Ministry    We have our own Care and Encouragement Team that visit, call, and support our people at CLC.  It's a simple ministry to be involved with and great way to connect into others lives.

We have aligned ourselves with some Christian ministries that impact peoples lives in meaningful ways.  Instead of recreating another ministry, we support their ongoing efforts with both time and money. We believe serving and caring are God-centered ways of living that are an important part of life, and something worth being involved with as a church home.

MEET ME AT THE FREEZER

Meet Me at the Freezer is a prepared meals mission for members and their neighbors in need. Meals are prepared by cooks from Christ Lutheran Church - with love, health suggestions and prayers. Members gather once a month to cook together, typically the first Saturday of the month. Meals are stored in a freezer at the church. Members sign out meals - soups or full dinners packaged for one or two people. Members share with other members or friends who are challenged by illness, caretaking or gifted to new parents. Meals are fully labeled with ingredients for allergies as well as vegan/vegetarian options.

SCITUATE FOOD PANTRY

One of the Missions of Christ Lutheran Church is The Scituate Food Pantry. The Scituate Food Pantry operates to help those in need by providing food and other basic necessities for the citizens of Scituate, MA. Members from Christ Lutheran Church volunteer time at the pantry. Once a month the Congregation of Christ Lutheran Church collects food for the pantry. The items are collected during worship service by the Sunday school children. This mission is a wonderful way to help the local community and to teach the children the importance of giving. The Ruth House is a teen parenting program where parents find support, counseling and training, advocacy and transitional housing. Located in Brockton, MA, it provides housing in a safe, therapeutic, residential environment that builds upon individual strengths in order to help young families move toward self-sufficiency. CAROLINA HILL

Carolina Hill is a transitional shelter for homeless families operated by a private, non profit (Chapter 180, 501 (c) 3) corporation. Since 1988, we have provided services designed to break the cycle of repeated homelessness experienced by many families. We treat our residents with dignity and respect, without prejudice or judgement. Our caring and committed staff can accommodate families whose members may have special needs (e.g., developmentally disabled or handicapped). Our physical facility and its location are ideal for a shelter program with a fenced yard, recreation building and living spaces ideally suited for large families who cannot find shelter elsewhere. The average length of stay for a family at Carolina Hill is three months, during which the parents receive mandatory counseling in order to examine the reasons for their homelessness and to avoid similar situations in the future.
