Topic: This training focuses on building awareness skills if a person is having suicidal thoughts. The person being trained is provided with skills on how to ask the questions if that person is considering suicide, how to engage in a discussion (persuade) and then to provide a “warm hand off” to emergency department, counseling or other appropriate referral sources. This is an ideal training for teachers, parents and local organizations. No pre-requisites are required for QPR Suicide Prevention Training. The purpose of this training is to reduce the number of suicides. The objectives of QPR training include: To detect person who are in the thinking or ideational phase of a suicide plan. To discover people who have already made one or more non-lethal attempts. How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal. How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide. The common causes of suicidal behavior. The warning signs of suicide. How to get help for someone in crisis. Course Format • You will be asked to take a pre-survey prior to the course. • The training is 60 minutes in length.
